KAYSVILLE — During March, Kaysville residents can sign up for Davis County Library cards at no charge and explore the services of the county library system until Aug. 1. This gives Kaysville residents the chance to try the county library services without paying the non-resident fee.

Last week the Davis County Library Board approved the temporary guest-card policy that permits this one-time opportunity. The policy was adopted as part of the process of considering a merger between the Kaysville City Library and the county library and giving Kaysville residents the opportunity to try county library services.

The policy permits up to three cards to be issued to members of one family, said Pete Giacoma, county library director. Up to seven books can be checked out on one card. The cards also permit access to the Davis County Library's online resources including the Heritage Quest genealogical database and the Classical Music Library.

Patrons will be able to place holds online and receive notices of their holds as well as any overdue items through their personal e-mail accounts. Any Kaysville patrons who have purchased nonresident cards that expire during the period covered by the policy will not be required to pay the renewal charge for their cards until Aug. 1, Giacoma said.

All cards issued under the policy must be applied for no later than March 31 and will expire on Aug. 1. For more information, call the county library at 451-2322 or 547-0729.
