Antelope Island State Park is Utah's own Yellowstone. It should remain a refuge not only for animals but also for park visitors. It is a place where bison, mule deer, bighorn sheep and antelope roam freely on the island's rangelands and a destination for visitors who seek peace and solitude from the metropolis just minutes away.
Now, the wishes of a few have led to legislation that would open the island to hunting. Those same few people who want a hunt will keep hundreds, even thousands of park visitors from enjoying the serenity of the island.
Antelope Island visitors and Davis County leaders have already spoken. Keep Antelope Island free to roam for all.
