Report: Jazz may be talking Boozer trade

DENVER — A basketball Internet site claimed Saturday that there is a report out of Los Angeles suggesting the Jazz and Lakers may be involved in trade talks involving Utah forward Carlos Boozer.

According to a posting on InsideHoops.com, "there are rumors coming from Fox Sports radio in Los Angeles that the Lakers may be moving Lamar Odom soon, possibly to Utah for Carlos Boozer. Other players would be involved."

Neither the rumor nor the report involving the Jazz's leading scorer this season could be independently confirmed Saturday night, but talk of discussion between the Jazz and Lakers was making the rounds in Denver during the league's All-Star Weekend.

The purported report comes with the NBA's Thursday trade deadline just five days away, and on the heels of a rough stretch for Boozer in which the Duke product was publicly taken to task by Jazz owner Larry H. Miller for occasional uninspired play.

Miller also said he knew of "at least three" teams that would be willing to take on the six-year, $68 million contract of the 23-year-old Boozer, who left Cleveland for Utah as a restricted free agent this past summer.

Jazz basketball operations senior vice president Kevin O'Connor later said the Jazz were seriously engaged in trying to move Boozer, but did add he would be remiss if he did not listen to any and all trade offers from other clubs.

Dallas also is believed to have spoken with the Jazz regarding Boozer.

Besides Boozer, forward Matt Harpring apparently has drawn the attention of multiple teams interested in talking trade with the Jazz.
