Several bills target immigrant licenses
HB316 and HB130 would require those using ITINs to participate in a database to get a Utah driver's license. Participants would be required to pay a $25 to $50 monthly fee and attend a monthly English class. The program would be managed by a private company.
HB330 would repeal the state law that allows ITINs to be used to get a driver's license.
HB223 would give those who can prove they are legal aliens but aren't eligible to work (i.e. those on student visas) to be able to obtain a license. This bill has passed the House and will be heard in a Senate committee today.
