Coach needs to adjust game plan
Well, we could start at the obvious which would be to take the power away from Sloan but everyone around the Jazz thinks he walks on water so that won't work.
The problem is he still wants players that work hard. Well, I work hard but can't hold a candle to the talent that other teams have and neither can Sloan's pets (Harpring, Collins, and Borchardt). He has talented players that don't get the playing time cause he feels they don't play hard.
Well, if Harpring had any talent to go along with his hard work he would be an All-Star. Harpring working hard still is the worst player on the floor whenever he is out there unless Collins and Borchardt are out there with him. The other team attacks that weakness and we lose.
If Sloan wants to stick around and be recognized as a great coach he will adjust his thinking and play his best players. Stop trying to rotate players. No one is impressed with that.
Team lacks veteran leadership
I think that there are a lot of little things that are contributing to the problems that the Jazz are having this year, but it seems to me what this team is really lacking is veteran leadership. Without veteran leadership it's difficult to pull out of the slumps that happen with every team.
Confidence has everything to do with winning the close games, and the Jazz have none right now, and when you lose confidence you need someone that can preform in the clutch and pull you through to help get that confidence back.
The Jazz need someone that they can turn to on the court or in the locker room that can show them how to deal with a particular situation.
I think that Kirilenko will be that person in the long run, and it helped that he was able to play with Stockton and Malone, but right now he's just trying to find his place on the team as well.
I don't know if the answer is to trade for a veteran or to just wait and let the team mature on their own, but I don't think the answer is going to be found this year or in the near future even.
