Nancy Workman's attorneys Tuesday unsuccessfully called for a mistrial and also asked 3rd District Judge Judith Atherton to acquit Workman before the presentation of her defense.

Atherton denied defense attorney Greg Skordas' motion for a mistrial, saying Skordas had missed his chance to object during cross-examination. Workman had waived her right to attorney-client privilege so that two private investigators could testify, and Skordas said prosecutors had gone beyond the scope of that waiver.

"Frankly, I was expecting objections, and I didn't hear them," Atherton said.

The judge deferred until today her ruling on Skordas' motion to acquit.
