Social Security check lags

When I was 16, I began contributing to Social Security. At age 23, I started contributing almost the same percentage of my paycheck to a private investment account. Today I am retired and collecting from both. The check from my private account is a little over 4 1/2 times bigger than my Social Security check. Both are guaranteed for life with annual cost of living increases. Should I die before my wife, she will receive 80 percent of my check from the private account.
