It's looking like the University of Utah is going to receive the approval they've been waiting for as the Capital Facilities and Administrative Services Appropriations Subcommittee presented their priorities for funding.

The budget recommendation for the renovation of the Marriott Library totalled more than $48 million in one-time and ongoing funds. The library was the Board of Regents' first priority and second on the state level.

Dixie State College will likely see $15.7 million in funds for a Health Sciences building. The building sits on one of the state's list for building priority, just under the automatically allocated $50 million for the Capitol building renovations.

The subcommittee recommended $2.5 million for the Department of Human Services' development center housing proposal. The Department of Corrections is projected to get $13.2 million for prison beds.

Utah Valley State College did not see a recommendation from this committee for a digital learning center. Southern Utah University is projected to get $10 million for a teacher education building.

If there is still money left, the budget will provide the Department of Natural Resources and courts with funds to complete their projected plans.

The budget recommendations will head to Executive Appropriations for final approval, where funding sources will also be determined.
