The 3rd California Volunteers Fife, Drum and Bugle Corps is sponsoring its annual "Salute to the President Day" in Building 55, Fort Douglas, on Saturday.
Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with music and other entertainment continuing until 2 p.m. Toasts to President Abraham Lincoln will be made at appropriate times throughout the festivities.
Lincoln cake and punch will be served to all attendees. Visitors can tour the historic 1863 adobe house the 3rd California Volunteers are restoring in conjunction with the Fort Douglas Military Museum.
This building is south of the Peterson Heritage Center on the U. upper campus. Period costumes are invited. For more information, call the Fort Douglas Military Museum at 801-581-1251.
