Barbara Nash (Readers' Forum, Feb. 4), apparently believes those who wish to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms are gun extremists. She must also believe that our Founding Fathers were gun extremists, because they spoke up strongly about protecting that particular right of the people.

Nash asks, "Isn't it enough to have concealed weapons in our schools?" The answer is no, it isn't enough. The law is very explicit in declaring that this right "shall not be infringed." If anyone is a gun extremist, it is he or she who tries to thwart the inalienable right of the people to defend themselves.
