Under questioning by defense attorneys, Boys and Girls Club executive director Bob Dunn testified Friday that it was not unusual for local governments to loan employees to the Boys and Girls Club, nor was it unusual for Salt Lake County to contribute money to the organization — about $500,000 between 1996 and 2000.

Dunn also said, however, that he was not aware of the arrangement whereby the county paid Iorga and Schroder for 40 hours weekly at $10 an hour, while at the same time the club paid them for 15 hours weekly at $8 an hour. The employees generally worked 40 hours a week.

Dunn said he thought the club and county were each paying for 20 hours of work.

He also called "uncommon" the fact that there was no contract with the county for the donated salaries — a legal requirement — and that its lack was "our biggest mistake."

Schroder conceded that the county portion of her salary was not recorded as a donation to the club, nor did she ever do any health department-related work.

The trial, which is expected to end sometime next week, resumes Tuesday.
