Snow College signings Cougars add another defender

Summary

BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Thursday the signing of Jan Jorgensen, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive lineman from Helper. Jorgensen's signing brings the number of BYU recruits to 18, including 10 defensive players.

Jorgensen is serving an LDS Church mission and will return late this summer in time to participate in fall camp. He was a two-time Deseret News All-State selection while playing both linebacker and quarterback at Carbon High School.

He signed with Kentucky out of high school and was recruited by Kentucky, Utah and Boise State.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: David Johnson, a first-team All-State tight end from Alta, will play at Snow College. Other players who will attend Snow are Ikani Samani, a 6-3, 230-pound defensive lineman from Provo; Robert Rafajko, a 6-4, 225-pound defensive lineman from American Fork; and Devin Frischknecht, a 6-3, 210-pound receiver from Manti.

Among the players agreeing to play for Dixie State were Matt Asiata, a first-team All-State running back from Hunter, and Trevyn Smith, a first-team All-State running back from Springville.
