For the second day in a row, the Senate Rules Committee has refused to send a controversial resolution about financial institutions to a committee.
Chairman Michael Waddoups, R-Taylorsville, said that he was trying to persuade the chairman of the Senate Business and Labor Committee, Sen. Scott Jenkins, R-Plain City, to accept HJR1. Jenkins was reluctant to have it in his committee, however, so forcing him to take it might mean it would never be put on an agenda.
Sen. Chris Buttars, R-West Valley, attempted to send it to the Business and Labor Committee on Monday, even if Jenkins did not want it. The attempt failed, however, in the same way it failed Friday when a similar motion was made by Sen. Curtis Bramble, R-Provo.
"I'd rather get this out and get it done," Buttars said. "One day will make a difference.
