Talk about making a first impression. Friday morning Larry Wiley was sworn in as a House representative for District 31, replacing Rep. Ty McCartney, D-Salt Lake, who resigned this week to take a full-time job with Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson's administration. After administering the oath, House Speaker Greg Curtis, R-Sandy, asked Wiley to say a few words.
The long-time city worker said he was a man of few words, and said: "Actions speak louder than words. I'm ready to kick ass and take names. Let's get 'em."
"Um, OK," said Curtis. No one bothered to make the motion that Wiley's words be spread upon the pages of the official House journal.
