FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The reactor at a nuclear power plant in Michigan was shut down Monday after a coolant leak was detected, officials said.

Officials with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and DTE Energy, which operates the plant, said the leak at the plant in Frenchtown Township, about 30 miles south of Detroit, posed no danger to plant workers or the public.

Plant officials were trying to determine what caused the leak, and it was not known when operations would resume.
