Early to bed, early to rise. The lifestyle worked for President Bush in his first term, and it's how he started his second term, too.

The president worked his way through four inaugural-eve parties in record time Wednesday night and got home for bed 45 minutes early. He was up before dawn Thursday and working in the Oval Office by 7 a.m.

"He was in an extremely effervescent mood," said chief of staff Andrew Card, who was with the president before the sun rose.
