EAGLE MOUNTAIN On Tuesday night, the Eagle Mountain City Council selected a replacement for Councilman Mark B. Madsen, who resigned last month after being elected as a state senator in November.
Brian B. Olsen, who was sworn in at Tuesday's meeting, was selected from a pool of three candidates that applied to fill Madsen's seat for the remaining year left on his term. He has worked on the city's Planning Commission for the past year.
Olsen was not the only new council member in attendance at Tuesday night's meeting. Janiece Sloan was recently chosen to replace Diane Jacob, who resigned unexpectedly last month, and was also attending her first meeting as a member of the council.
Olsen and Sloan were promptly put to work in their new capacities as the council voted to appoint Councilman Vincent Liddiard as mayor pro tem.
