Salt Lake County's newest city will become official Friday as Cottonwood Heights incorporates as the county's 16th city.
Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert will swear in Kelvyn Cullimore Jr. as the new city's mayor at 4 p.m. Friday at the Butler Middle School auditorium , 2350 S. 2700 East. The inauguration ceremony will be followed by the city's first budget hearing at 6 p.m. at Dynatronics Corp., 7030 Park Centre Drive.
Cottonwood Heights stretches from the Holladay border on the north to the Wasatch-Cache National Forest on the east, 1300 East on the west and Creek Road to the south. Residents voted to incorporate the city in a special May election.
