This letter is in response to Donald Chase and his letter titled "PhotoCop is un-American" (Readers' Forum, Jan. 11). Chase surmises that PhotoCop is un-American because he wants to see his accuser, and speed limit signs could be missed.
I always thought that being a "safe driver" meant that you followed the rules of the road. When you read the Utah driver's handbook, you realize basic speed limits are covered for residential, freeway and other roads.
Chase said he is safe, but he sure is upset for supposedly driving a safe speed.
We do not have enough police officers to sit at every corner watching for unsafe drivers. PhotoCop is a cost-effective measure to help a short-handed police force.
