SUNSET Add this northern Davis County city to the growing list of places that have banned pocket bikes and other low-profile vehicles.
After much debate Tuesday, the City Council voted 3-2 to prohibit pocket bikes from public property.
Sunset joins at least six other Utah local governments in banning the low-profile vehicles. Herriman passed a similar ordinance in December because of the vehicles' "combination of potential speed and low visibility."
South Jordan, Layton, Centerville and Kaysville already have similar ordinances. And Salt Lake County is trying to put a stop to pocket bike use on city streets and sidewalks.
Some pocket bikes can reach speeds up to 40 mph, with the rider's feet hovering just 6 inches from the ground.
