Utah

SOCCER: Tracy Stratton Garner was named second-team all-West, while Kiley Jones made the all-West freshman team as Soccer Buzz Magazine announced its annual awards for the West Region.

Garner, a senior midfielder from Bountiful, and Jones, a freshman midfielder from San Clemente, Calif., anchored Utah's defense, which ranked 59th in the nation in goals-against average (0.919). Garner also contributed a goal and an assist in 2004. Jones scored a goal and had four assists.

Weber State

TRACK AND FIELD: For the fourth straight year, Weber State's women's team is predicted to win the Big Sky Indoor title by vote of the league's coaches released Tuesday. Weber received four first-place votes and totaled 46 points. The Wildcats have won the past three indoor titles.

The men's team was picked second in the preseason poll with three first-place votes and 43 total points.

Utah State

FOOTBALL: Utah State will hold its annual postseason football banquet Jan. 22. The banquet, which will honor the USU senior class, will take place in the ballroom of the Taggart Student Center at 4 p.m. The cost to attend the banquet is $25. Those interested in attending should contact Vicky in the football office at (435) 797-1870 by Jan. 19.

GYMNASTICS: Season and individual tickets are available for the 2005 gymnastics season. Tickets are available at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum ticket office. The 30th-ranked Aggies will open the season with their annual Blue/White exhibition on Monday before opening the season at home against No. 5 Utah on Jan. 14. All home meets will take place in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 6:45 p.m.

Utah Valley

BASKETBALL: UVSC's Sylvester Allison shared NCAA Independent newcomer of the week honors for his performance at Sacramento State last Thursday. The junior guard from Alhambra, Calif., played 37 minutes and had a career-high 10 points, four assists and five steals.

WRESTLING: UVSC is finally getting an opportunity to wrestle on its home mat. Today, the Wolverines host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. in the Activity Center. The Wolverines haven't wrestled on their own mat since Nov. 20. Since then, they have been on the road at Las Vegas, Missouri and Reno. Utah Valley wrestled at Missouri last week.
