The Davis County Commission selected a new chairwoman to head the county's governing body.
In a meeting this week, the commission voted to appoint Commissioner Carol Page as the new chairwoman of the three-person commission. She replaces Dannie McConkie, who has served as chairman for eight years.
"It's a big assignment and it doesn't give you any more power or money, it just gives you a lot more responsibility," McConkie said. "Carol's up to the task and is eager to get to work."
This week's meeting was Commissioner Michael Cragun's final in office. In a surprising election upset earlier this year, newcomer Alan Hansen beat Cragun by 62-38 percent in the second round of voting during the Davis County Republican Party convention.
Hansen, a former Clearfield city councilman, starts his post on the commission in January.
