PROVO The 3-year-old girl removed Monday from a Provo home that police believe housed a clandestine methamphetamine lab will likely be living with her grandparents by Christmas.
Carol Sisco, spokeswoman for the Utah Department of Human Services, said the girl will stay at a state-operated shelter in Provo until the family is approved to take her.
Sisco said the girl, who was taken into protective custody by the state Division of Child and Family Services, will be examined by a medical professional while at the shelter.
Sisco said child-welfare workers don't anticipate any problems in the process they follow to make sure the girl is being placed in a suitable and safe home.
The girl is the daughter of a Spanish Fork woman arrested and booked into jail Monday for investigation of child endangerment, operating a clandestine drug lab, possession of methamphetamines and possession of paraphernalia.
Also arrested was a 32-year-old Orem man.
