The locally produced World War II drama "Saints and Soldiers" will be screened in Malmedy, Belgium, Sunday as a key part of events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
Co-screenwriter Geoffrey Panos said the film will be shown in the town near the site of the Malmedy Massacre, in which approximately 100 unarmed American GIs were executed by German soldiers in 1944. The massacre is depicted in the film.
"We were originally asked to provide a 35mm copy dubbed into French," said Panos, who will be in attendance. "When we informed them that only English-language versions are currently available, the officials in Malmedy wanted it just the same"
"Saints and Soldiers" is still playing locally; see the Weekend Section for theaters and times.
