Outgoing Gov. Olene Walker will deliver a final address to Utahns on Dec. 22 that will be carried live on KSL-TV.
The 15-minute, 6:30 p.m. farewell speech will focus on the future of the state and likely her recently announced proposal to reform the tax system, said Walker spokeswoman Amanda Covington.
The governor, who lost her bid to stay in office at the GOP convention earlier this year, will pack up her office at the Capitol Dec. 29. Gov.-elect Jon Huntsman Jr. will be sworn in Jan. 3.
Walker, who was in her third term as former Gov. Mike Leavitt's lieutenant governor, became the state's first woman governor in late 2003 after Leavitt resigned to join the Bush administration.
