Holiday events spice up season

SCERA's Christmas Splendor, through Dec. 20 (Friday, Saturday and Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the SCERA Center, 745 S. State. Children will visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, the Cat in the Hat, the Coca-Cola Polar Bear and a variety of elves and other holiday characters. Performers on the lobby stage include Showtime, Center Stage Dance Studio, the Dance Club, Sunshine Generation, Meridian School Choir. Academy of Ballet doing "The Nutcracker," Presto the Magician, SCERA Youth Theatre and many more. Hot chocolate and homemade fudge will also be available for purchase. Santa's Workshop, through Dec. 24 at the Provo Towne Centre. Kids can talk to and get their picture taken with Santa. Open during mall hours. Free.

Holiday Lights at Thanksgiving Point, through Jan. 1. Drive through Electric Park and see more than a million lights. Lights are on from 5:30-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays and Christmas. $7 per car, $3 per person on the wagon rides, $25 per bus, $20 for carriage rides (by reservation only), $50 trolley ride (up to 25 people — by reservation only. Provo Seventh-day Adventist Church invites area residents for Christmas fellowship at their Christmas program 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by Fellowship Dinner from 12:30 to 3 p.m. A musical program and Christmas Party begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Giving Tree, through Dec. 18. The Giving Tree at the University Mall will be decorated with ornaments representing individuals in the community who need special help this holiday season. Each ornament includes information about the individual that will help volunteers in selecting a gift that will bring a smile to their face Christmas morning. Simply return the unwrapped present to the mall by Saturday to ensure delivery by Christmas.

Candy Windows through Jan. 1 in downtown Provo. The theme of "O Christmas Tree" will turn windows to candy during this annual holiday tour of a variety of flavorful sculptures placed in store windows on Provo's Center Street. Free.
