HERRIMAN Three construction workers were injured Monday afternoon when a large wall they were installing fell on top of them.
Just after 3 p.m. workers at a home under construction near 13600 South and 5200 West were lifting a wall approximately 15 feet tall and 25 feet wide into place. Witnesses said the wall may have been too heavy for the number of workers lifting it.
A 25-year-old man suffered an injured back and possible other broken bones, according to Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Kendra Herlin. That man was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital. He was in "severe pain" when he left, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, she said.
Two other men, both in their late 30s, were also injured. One man suffered a possible broken leg and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The third suffered a possible broken foot and was taken by friends to a hospital near his home in Davis County, Herlin said.
"They're very lucky. This could have been a lot worse," she said.
