Sloan wasn't impressed with lineup change

DALLAS — For the Jazz, change was in the air Saturday night at Dallas.

Usual sixth man Raja Bell started at shooting guard in place of Gordan Giricek, who came off the bench. Usual backup center Mehmet Okur started in place of Jarron Collins, who also came off the bench.

And what good did it do the Jazz?

Not a bit, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan suggested after Utah fell 109-86 to the Mavericks, marking its fourth loss in a row.

"We had plenty of scorers out there — and I didn't have enough basketballs to go around," said Sloan, who was disgusted by what he called his club's "selfish" play.

Sloan said he didn't know if he would again start Bell and Okur over Giricek and Collins when the Jazz play next, Monday night at the Delta Center against Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat.

"I'll just keep tinkering around here a little bit, probably," he said, "and see what we come up with."

INJURY UPDATE: Neither forward Andrei Kirilenko (partially torn medial collateral ligament, right knee) nor point guard Keith McLeod (groin strain) made the trip to Dallas.

Kirilenko is wearing a brace that allows only limited movement of his leg, making airline travel difficult. McLeod stayed behind to receive treatment.

Point guard Raul Lopez (arthroscopic surgery, right knee) and center Curtis Borchardt both traveled.

Lopez took part in Saturday's morning shootaround and is about a week away from being ready to return. Borchardt is eligible to come off the injured list after sitting out five games, meaning he can return as early as Friday night's ESPN-televised meeting with Portland at the Delta Center.

Borchardt, Lopez and Kirilenko all are on the injured list.

McLeod remains on the active roster, so the Jazz played a third straight game with only 11 healthy players instead the usual 12.
