CBS announces that Dan Rather is stepping down as the anchor of CBS News in March but will continue to report on "60 Minutes." Why is he being retained as a reporter? Why won't he just go away?
Mr. Rather violated the foundation principles of journalism to promote a personal agenda. He can never be taken seriously as a journalist again. He is a nickel propagandist, nothing more. That is his legacy. He is leaving because the public is rejecting him and CBS is losing viewers and money.
