DRAPER NextPage on Monday unveiled a new subscription service for professionals to track and manage document versions.
The company is offering to let Utah companies participate in the beta program for the service, called NextPage 1.5, for the next couple of months prior to product launch in the 2005 first quarter. Details are available at www.nextpage.com/utahbeta.
The service gives users real-time status and notifications about all documents on which they collaborate, meaning it is designed to prevent wasted time working on the wrong document and reducing the risk of sending out incorrect information.
The company said every NextPage-tracked document contains a "silver thread," connecting different document versions together to ensure that users always know where to find the latest information, whether the document is saved as an e-mail attachment, stored on a shared drive or stored on a personal hard drive.
NextPage said users subscribe to the service by downloading a small software client that immediately initiates tracking and status of document versions. Beta users are not under obligation to purchase the service, it said.
