GRADE D
Offense
With three turnovers and plenty of dropped passes, the Cougar offense dropped off considerably from the previous two games, in which they scored 40-plus points in each.
GRADE B
Defense
Though BYU's defense gave up 101 yards to running back DonTrell Moore and 125 yards to wide receiver Hank Baskett, it played well enough to win the game.
GRADE D
Special teams
Matt Payne looked better as a quarterback Saturday than as a place kicker. He threw a touchdown pass early but followed that up with three missed field goals.
GRADE D
Overall
The Cougars squandered a golden opportunity to become bowl eligible and clinch a winning season against a team they should have beaten.
