Alan Matheson, founding director of the Utah Water Project, will become the executive director of the Coalition for Utah's Future beginning in December.
The coalition also will name governor-elect Jon Huntsman Jr. as an honorary co-chairman of Envision Utah when he takes office in January.
Matheson, who will replace Stephen Holbrook, is an attorney who runs the Utah Water Project as part of an initiative by Trout Unlimited to balance water development and protect fisheries. He is also a member of the Sandy Planning Commission and the Envision Utah Steering Committee.
Holbrook is stepping down after 16 years directing the Coalition for Utah's Future, a nonprofit promoting quality growth in Utah. During his tenure, Holbrook helped create the state Office of Child Care, state funding for after-school programs and the Utah Mentoring Network.
