Your fine salute to Ute play-by-play man Bill Marcroft, unfortunately, could not really do him justice.
Years ago, I had the opportunity to work around Bill in television news. He was a distinct and powerful communicator who had an enormous ability to ad-lib through any imaginable situation. He is the consummate professional. He was generous with his time, talent and optimistic disposition. I was amazed by his intense loyalty to family, friends, employers and his personal standards.
Ute fans could not have asked for a finer ambassador.
As a BYU grad, I'm not exactly a Utah partisan. But I hope the Utes end up in the Fiesta Bowl. It would be a deserving climax for a first-rate career in broadcasting by a first-rate human being.
