LINDON Larry Ellertson plans to tender his resignation as Lindon mayor in January.
At that time, Lindon's City Council will start looking for an appointee, said Lindon City Administrator Ott Dameron.
By law, the council then has 30 days to solicit and accept applications, interview candidates and decide who they will appoint to serve out the last year of Ellertson's term.
If they choose someone who is presently serving on the five-member council, then the process will start over to replace that person.
Dameron said no one on the council has indicated an interest in the mayoral post yet.
