The Monday morning commute along the freeways in Salt Lake County was relatively accident-free despite icy conditions in some areas.
A Utah Highway Patrol car was hit on the onramp to I-80 from Wright Brothers Drive just before 8 a.m. The trooper was already stopped to help another motorist who hit a barricade when a second vehicle also slid into the concrete wall and then into the trooper's vehicle, said UHP Sgt. Wade Breur.
The trooper was not injured, and his car suffered only minor damage.
Eight accidents were reported to UHP Monday morning, only one of which resulted in minor injuries.
Sunday, 66 accidents were reported from midnight until 7:20 p.m. Eleven resulted in minor injuries, Breur said.
