VX nerve agent disposal resumes

After a weeklong suspension to verify plant compliance with new federal air quality regulations, the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility has continued to process its stockpile of VX nerve agent-filled spray tanks.

The new air quality standards, referred to as Maximum Achievable Control Technology, required validation and verification to ensure proper operation and compatibility.

The spray tanks were designed to be attached to aircraft to distribute agent to enemy battlefields.
