Professional experience: 1964-65, president and half-owner (with father) of Ivory Real Estate Co.; 1967-68, half-owner of Ivory and Boyer real estate brokerage; 1968-70, founder and chief operating officer of Terracor development company; 1971-79, managing general partner for Ivory and Co.; 1979-82, LDS mission president in Manchester, England; 1982-84, managing partner of Ivory and Co.; 1984-2000, sole owner and chief executive officer of Ivory Homes (sold in 2001 to his son, Clark); 1996-present, Deseret Morning News board member (now on leave).

Political experience: 1964, field director for gubernatorial campaign of Mitch Melich; 1970, finance chairman for congressional candidate Richard Richards ; 1972, chairman of the Utah Finance Committee to re-elect Richard Nixon; 1974, finance manager for campaign of Sen. Jake Garn; 1975-76, Republican national committeeman for Utah; 1976, finance manager for gubernatorial candidate Vern Romney.
