Bonds' 700th home-run ball brings lofty bids online

Online bidding for San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds' 700th career home run ball continues to grow.

The auction, being handled by Overstock Auctions, part of Salt Lake-based Overstock.com, began at noon Monday. By Friday afternoon the top bid was $788,284. It was the only bid made Friday, topping Thursday's top price of $780,479.

Through Friday afternoon, 237 bids had been placed and more than 208,000 visits had been made to the site.

The auction is scheduled to end at noon Wednesday but may continue if bidding remains strong. Details are at www.overstock.com.
