Preps of the Week
Timpview Thunderbirds
Sport:
FootballClass: Senior
Position: Quarterback
The numbers: Covey has been one of the most difficult-to-defend players in the state for two seasons. He's most dangerous in near-sack situations, where he frequently burns opponents with his lightning speed or knack of finding the open receiver. In last week's 35-3 win over Provo, he passed for 350 yards and five touchdowns. For the season he has completed 102 of 165 passes for 1,676 yards and 21 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He's also rushed for 531 yards and six touchdowns.
Lone Peak Knights
Sport: Volleyball
Class: Junior
Position: Setter
The numbers: The Knights have an entire line of good spikers, and Hamilton is one of them. However, her real strength is setting up Lone Peak's other stars for the kill. A 30-assist match is not rare for Hamilton. In last week's critical win over Orem she had 32 assists, three kills and two blocks. In the Knights' huge win over the previously unbeaten Pleasant Grove Vikings, a victory that keeps her team in the hunt for a league title and a leg up for the No. 2 seed, Hamilton had five kills and a .625 hitting percentage.
