For the second straight year, a Utah high school football player will participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio this January, televised nationally on NBC.

Representatives from the U.S. Army will visit Timpview High School Wednesday to officially name Timpview lineman Matt Reynolds as one of the 78 players who will participate in the Jan. 15 game in the Alamodome.

"It's not just an honor where they give you a piece of paper and say you've had a good season; they fly you out there for practice and other activities and then you get to play in a game with a lot of great players," said Reynolds. "So to me, it's a pretty cool thing."

Reynolds, the son of BYU assistant coach Lance Reynolds, is the top-ranked lineman in Utah and one of the most sought-after in the West. Many feel he'll follow in the footsteps of his father and his brother, Cougar center Lance Reynolds, Jr., and end up playing at BYU. However, he hasn't decided on a college yet and is still considering about six schools.

"I want to take all of trips first before I make a decision," said Reynolds.

He began the season with high expectations and says he has put a little pressure on himself at times to do too much. However, he's happy with his play and likes his team's chances heading into next week's state playoffs.

Last year, Hunter lineman Ray Feinga became Utah's first Army All-American.

Over 400 athletes across the country, including Northridge quarterback T.J. Canales, were nominated as potential U.S. Army All-Americans by Tom Lemming — a well-respected evaluator of prep football talent and contributor to ESPN Sports and USA Today.
