WEST POINT For the second year in a row, West Point has received a Governor's Award for its planning for quality growth.
West Point is the smallest of the cities receiving the 2004 Quality Growth Community designation. Last year, it received the Governor's Quality Growth Award, recognizing its general plan as the state's best.
A Quality Growth Community is a city or town that has completed numerous requirements for designation, including the completion of economic development, infrastructure, housing and conservation plans.
As a certified city, West Point will enjoy priority access to state and state-administered funds, City Manager Rick Davis said.
"This priority may include additional points or more favorable terms associated with the city's future application for state funds or loans," Davis said.
