During the five general sessions of the LDS Church's 174th Semiannual General Conference, church leaders counseled members on a variety of subjects and announced new temples, including one that will be built in an area of the Salt Lake Valley that will be determined later. Church leaders also named Elders Dieter F. Uchtdorf and David A. Bednar to fill the vacancies in the Quorum of the Twelve created by the deaths of Elders Neal A. Maxwell and David B. Haight .
