But the controversy hasn't slowed ticket sales. As of Tuesday evening, more than 3,700 $5 and $10 tickets had been sold.
Also, UVSC students continued to pick up free tickets to the event to be held in the 8,000-seat McKay Events Center on campus.
"If they want to go, they need to get their tickets soon," said Mark Hildebrand, director of the events center. "It will probably sell out by the end of the week."
Proceeds from tickets sales and donations are expected to reimburse the college for Moore's speaking fee.
Hannity challenged Moore to place that money on the table during a debate. Students would then vote on who they think won the debate. The winner would get to donate the $40,000 to a children's charity of his choice.
No matter what happens or who speaks, Hannity said he's just glad UVSC students are studying up on politics.
"This is one of the most important elections of our time, and to see students concerned and involved is, frankly, great for our country," Hannity said. "It's good that they're studying the issues, no matter what side that they're on."
