2 exhibits open today in Springville

Beginning today, the Springville Museum of Art will showcase art that offers visitors a glimpse of the Southwest and its indigenous cultures before the onslaught of America's westward expansion. "The Taos Masters & Western Artists Exhibit," featuring art by Joseph Sharp, E. Marin Hennings, Frederick Remmington, Maynard Dixon, E. Irving Crouse, Emil Bistram, Gerard C. Delano, Jozef Bakos, Mahonri Young, Gutzom Borglum, Birger Sandzen and others illustrates the mastery of these early Western artists and will enthrall the initiated and uninitiated of this genre. The exhibit is on display through Oct. 26.

Also today, the museum will open "From Bouguereau to Norman Rockwell," an exhibit by artists known for finding idealism in the common man. The show includes five Bouguereau works, 10 by Rockwell, and work by other artists working during their time. This exhibit runs through Oct. 24 and has an admission price of $4 for adults.
