SOCCER: BYU freshman goalkeeper Erika Woodbury has been named Mountain West Conference women's soccer defensive player of the week after posting her first two career shutout victories. It's first career weekly honor for Woodbury and the first BYU player honored this season.

WOMEN'S GOLF: The BYU women's golf team used a balanced effort to move up during the second round of the Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday.<

The Cougars are in third place after posting a 295, one stroke better than Monday. The Cougars also benefited from a six-stroke penalty given to Oklahoma State for a rules violation.

VOLLEYBALL: Former Utah State All-American Karolyn Kirby will be inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame on Oct. 15 in Holyoke, Mass. Currently an assistant coach on the University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team, Kirby won a gold medal in beach volleyball at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, and played 10 seasons in the Women's Professional Volleyball Association.

FOOTBALL: Utah State's Big Blue Club will hold its September luncheon in Salt Lake City at Iggy's Sports Grill Thursday at noon. Aggie head coach Mick Dennehy and director of athletics Randy Spetman will attend.

Cost of the luncheon is $12 for Big Blue Club members and $15 for non-members.
