Penalties plagued the Utes, who still managed to put up respectable numbers. Alex Smith, Steve Savoy and Marty Johnson were bright spots.

The Utes gave up 312 yards of total offense and 18 first downs, but overcame it by recovering three fumbles and intercepting a pass.

Bryan Borreson made a 21-yard field goal and had several deep kickoffs. For the second straight game, however, he missed a PAT.

Utah improved to 3-0 against Pac-10 teams in the Urban Meyer era. The win was the Utes' first in Tucson since 1967, ending a seven-game skid.
