Utah State Fair events for today

The Utah State Fair, North Temple and 1000 West, started Thursday and will continue through Sunday, Sept. 19.

Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Regular admission costs are $7 adults, $6 for seniors (age 62 and older), $5 for youths 6-16; and children 5 and younger are free. Tickets are by cash or credit cards only; no checks are accepted.

Everyday discounts include a $5 admission for sale at any Smith Food and Drug Store and $12 all-you-can-ride carnival wristbands.

Parking in a State Fair lot costs $4 Monday to Thursday and $5 Friday through Sunday. Limited free street parking near the Fairpark is also available but do not block residential driveways or access.

UTA buses 18, 19, 20, 26, 43 and 50 travel by or near the Fairpark.

All-day ride coupons for the carnival attractions cost $16 for all-day, or individually the cost is $1 a coupon. Rides require two to four coupons each.

All day events — Centennial Village (south of Arena); Clowns, Magicians, Jugglers, & Strolling Acts; Cooking Demonstrations (Zion Building); Giant Yellow Slide (west end of Fairpark; and working artist: Ario Johnson, painter (Fine Arts/Bonneville Building)

10:30 a.m. — Big Cat Safari Show (south of Grand Building)

11 a.m. — Steeples Wild West Bear Show (west end of Fairpark)

11:30 a.m. — Chris Fair, "Magic with a Flair" (Family Fun Floor)

noon — Reptile Adventures Show (East Center Mall)

12:30 p.m. —Fun Puppets (Family Fun Floor)

1 p.m. — Demo — Lion House Pies (Zion Building)

1:30 p.m. — Behind the Chutes, Student Program Rodeo Tours (Village Stage)

1:30 p.m. — Utah Beef Council Dutch Oven Mystery Bag Cook-off, cooking Begins (Specialty Tent)

2:30 p.m. — Dan Whitley Music Studios (Village Stage)

3 p.m. — Reptile Adventures Show (East Center Mall)
