CASPER, Wyo. — The Provo Angels, who already clinched first place in the Southern Division, on Saturday night lost their second game in a row to the Casper Rockies.

Provo spotted Casper a 12-0 lead after the second inning, and outscoring the Rockies 3-1 over the next seven innings didn't make much of a dent in the deficit.

Left fielder Michael Hughes was 2-for-4 at the plate for Provo. First baseman Clifton Remole's double was the Angels' only extra-base hit.

Provo and Ogden conclude their regular seasons Sunday and Monday by playing each other in Ogden.

Provo won the division race in both the first and second halves of the season and will open its playoff series at Idaho Falls on Tuesday. The Chukars had the second-best overall record in the Southern Division. The Angles will be at home on Wednesday and, if necessary, Thursday.

IDAHO FALLS 5, OGDEN 3: At Idaho Falls, the Raptors lost their fifth game in a row.

Designated hitter Chris Westervelt was Ogden's leader Saturday, going 2-for-4 at the plate, with one run scored and two driven in. His fourth-inning double was the Raptors' lone extra-base hit. The Chuckars had scored two runs in the second, and Westervelt's double scored shortstop David Nicholson and first baseman Cory Dunlap, briefly tying the score. Idaho Falls then scored two in the fifth to take a two-run lead.

In the seventh, Westervelt singled, advanced on a wild pitch and then on a ground out and scored from third on center fielder B.J. Richmond's single.

The Chukars added an insurance run in the eighth when second baseman Eddie Solis picked up his second RBI of the game.
