Seconds from Disaster (6, 8, 9 and 11 p.m., National Geographic Channel): There's a fine line between examining disasters and exploiting them, and this new series teeters on the edge at times. Sure, the explanations of what happened when the Concorde crashed in Paris in 2000, killing 109 people (the episodes that air at 6 and 9 p.m.) and when the federal building in Oklahoma City was bombed in 1995, killing 168 (8 and 11 p.m.), are interesting but repeated use of digital re-creations becomes excessive.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (7 p.m., Ch. 4): Kids whose parents both suddenly passed away get their home rebuilt. (Repeat)
Last Comic Standing (7 p.m., Ch. 5): The competition continues.
Gilmore Girls (7 p.m., Ch. 30): Luke realizes he's in love with Lorelai. (Repeat)
Father of the Pride (9 p.m., Ch. 5): See accompanying story. (Seen an hour later than usual because of GOP convention coverage.)
Scrubs (9:30 p.m., Ch. 5): J.D. completes his residency but doesn't leave the hospital in the fourth season opener. And Heather Graham ("Boogie Nights," "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me") comes aboard (for a few weeks) as a psychiatrist/love interest for J.D. (Seen an hour later than usual.)
Amazing Race (9 p.m., Ch. 2): The contestants head for India. (Seen an hour later than usual.)
Nip/Tuck (11 p.m., FX): Sean rejects Julia's reconciliation plea.
