Juan Montoya didn't last long as Public Enemy No. 1. The 25-year-old was arrested by authorities Thursday afternoon, only hours after being dubbed with the dubious distinction by the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit.
Members of the gang unit and the U.S. Marshal's Service kept surveillance outside of a house until a vehicle drove by about 1 p.m. Officers stopped the vehicle and found Montoya, an alleged street-gang member, inside, according to a Metro Gang Unit statement said.
Montoya was wanted on a state warrant for assault on a pregnant woman. He also is wanted on a federal fugitive warrant. Montoya's criminal history includes arrests for battery, a stolen vehicle and weapons violations.
